Hour of Harvest News June 2020

Father’s Day Message:
As we celebrate Father’s Day this month we should reflect on our fathers and our role as fathers. It is natural and admirable to want better for our kids and to be a better father than what we had. Being a father can bring some of the most joy ever experienced to our lives and sometimes some of the most hurt and disappointment. But as fathers we must always be there for our children even when they stray. This does not mean we necessarily endorse their actions, but we must continue to love them, encourage them and continue to forgive them just as Jesus instructed Peter to do for the people he felt had sinned against him.
“Then Peter came and said to him, Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times? Jesus said to him, not seven times, but I tell you, seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18:21-22
As we desire our children to succeed and even exceed our accomplishments in life, we must remember that the direction we think would be best for them may not be what they desire or are capable of achieving.
Many of you may have had fathers that lacked the skill, understanding or will to be a good father or you may have never known your father. We should remember what Jesus said about forgiveness and apply it in our everyday lives. For various reasons some may be unable to father a child but there are so many beautiful children in foster care that would love to have a caring home. Adoption is a wonderful avenue to show God’s love. Have a wonderful Month and Happy Father’s Day.
May the peace of the Lord be with you always,
Jonathan Drake
